Westfields suffered 2 dropped home points when visitors Roman Glass St George scored a dramatic 94th minute equaliser to deny Westfields a home win when the 2 sides met on Saturday at allpay.park in the Hellenic League Premier Division. Both sides had observed a minute’s silence for the late Ronnie Radford and then served up an entertaining end to end game in which Westfields’ new signing Adam Newbury had a good debut After a goalless first half Westfields took a 70th minute lead when Archie Muirhead cracked home a shot from 12 yards to put Westfields ahead and Westfields then had a couple of half chances to increase the lead but did not make the best of set plays particularly corner kicks. In the end the visitors came back strongly and deep into injury time when Westfields failed to clear a corner and a goalmouth scramble ensued, Lewis Gilchrist was on the spot to stab home the equaliser for Roman Glass St George with practically the last kick of the game and rob Westfields of all 3 points for the second week having suffered similarly at Royal Wootton Bassett the previous week. Next Saturday Westfields are home to Shrivenham in the Hellenic League Premier Division, kick off 3pm at allpay.park |
