WESTFIELDS END ON A HIGH
Westfields completed their pre-season friendlies with a 3-1 home win over a Hereford FC XI at allpay.park on Thursday night.
Westfields got off to a blistering start by scoring 3 goals in the opening half before Hereford pulled a goal back by a trialist just before the break.
After the interval Josh Gowling reshuffled his side to good effect and the scores remained unchanged.
Westfields started really swiftly and scored a sensational goal in the 12th minute when a neat movement down the left-hand side ended with Josh Hunt unleashing a tremendous drive from outside the box which flew into the top corner.
Westfields continued their swift-moving play against a young Hereford side and increased the lead when Sam Griffiths got on the end of a right-wing cross to tuck in a shot at the far post to put Westfields into a 2-0 lead.
Westfields were in good commanding form and another fine goal came when Dale Richards headed home at the far post from a left-wing cross.
Hereford came back into the game just before the interval and when Westfields failed to clear a right-wing corner they conceded a goal with a crisp shot from just inside the penalty area.
After the break Hereford came more into the game in a swift end-to-end exchange but both defences stayed on top with Westfields’ new signing Ben Vine looking in commanding form whilst Billy Murphy in the centre of midfield also had a good game, having returned from a twelve-month injury.
Josh Gowling, the Hereford Manager, was pleased with the facilities that Westfields had at allpay.park and confirmed he was happy with the workout for his young Hereford XI.
