Of the seventeen ties involving uhlsport Hellenic Leauge clubs last Saturday a remarkable nine of them went to a penalty shoot-out. It perhaps speaks to how competitive a competiton the FA Vase is and how keenly contested the battles between clubs at this stage of the competiton are.
Overall it was a good weekend for our clubs, with the majority going through to the next round. Pershore Town perhaps deserve a mention ssecuring an 8-0 home victory to add to their impressive league form so far this season.
Elsehwere there was a strong 4-1 victory for Newbury over Highworth Town Reserves in the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup. And the weekend’s football action should perhaps not pass without a mention of a remarkable 6-5 win for Clanfield Dev over Wroughton Dev in the uhlsport Hellenic League Division Two South!
