Westfields travelled to Roman Glass St George on Saturday and turned in an impressive performance and recorded a 4-1 away win to earn them a joint second place in the table and put them in a challenge for the title.

The result was even more important as league leaders Bishops Cleeve lost against Westbury and Malvern Town were held to a draw away at Hereford Lads Club .

Westfields result was recorded as a result of a fine team display on the 4G surface at Bristol as Westfields scored some impressive goals as the stepped up their promotion push as they go into their Christmas derby with Hereford Lads Club at allpay.park on Monday 27th December kick off 3pm.

Westfields wasted little time on Saturday in taking the lead when a quick through in by Sean Powell to RichardĀ  Greaves saw good link up play with Jamie Bird who took the ball in his stride and blasted a 25 yarder into the far corner of the Bristol sides net.

Westfields were causing problems down both flanks and increased their lead through leading goal scorer Josh Hunt who hit his shot through a Ruck of players to put Westfields 2-0 on 18 minutes before Jonathan Walker pulled a goal back for the Bristol side as Westfields went in at the break 2-1 ahead .

After the interval Westfields opened up explosively with 2 goals in the first 10 minutes when Matt McDonald swept Westfields into a 3-1 lead soon after the restart then Dan Stoneman scored the best goal of the match when Jamie Bird produced a great cross from the right and Stoneman stroked home the pass to put Westfields 4-1 ahead Westfields kept going and maintained their lead as when the Home side did hit back they found the Westfields defence in top form with Sam Rawlings outstanding .

Westfields now entertain Hereford Lads Club on Monday 27 December kick off 3pm at allpay .park.
