Sadly, I have to inform you of the sudden passing of the very popular Dave McArdle, our Results Officer,

Dave was one of the greats in non-League football.

Personally, I have never met anyone with a broader and in-depth knowledge of local football.

He was one of the most likeable people that any of us could wish to meet.

We are very honoured to have had him as part of our ranks. He will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts are with his family.

Bob Dalling

In his memory a GoFundMe page has been set up by his family in case people wanted to help in any way. There is no obligation to donate anything. Here is the link : https://gofund.me/8048abc4-

The uhlsport Hellenic League will be making a donation.

Sad news indeed. A lovely man. My thoughts are with his family – Des Williams – Letcombe

I am so desperately sad to hear this news. Dave McCardle was a great guy, absolutely committed to helping others enjoy their football but my personal experience was also incredibly positive. Dave would often send me a message after a positive result for Tuffley Rovers, simply congratulating us on our efforts, but it was very powerful for me particularly when we have been on a run of difficult results.

On Tuesday evening he sent me a congratulatory message after our win at Westfields and that was wholly typical of a guy who recognised the challenges for the smaller clubs and conveyed such enthusiasm for the game in general.

We will conduct a moment of silence ahead of tomorrow’s fixture with Westbury United; that is the least a man of Dave’s calibre deserves.

My thoughts are with his family and all his friends at this time – Neil Spiller – Tuffley Rovers

We are incredibly shocked and saddened to hear this news – we would like to convey our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. We have asked for a minute’s silence ahead of tomorrow’s game – Keith Woolfson – Watlington Town FC

We will be observing a minute’s silence for our fixture on Tuesday – Craig Teague – Worcester Raiders

The comments that have been made by many UHL clubs epitomise the high esteem that Dave was held in whilst holding the Results Officer post of our league. He was a wonderful and knowledgeable man and will be very much missed by us all – Brian & Angela King
