FA Vase 4th Round – 17 April 2021

The Fourth Round of the Buildbase FA Vase provided stiff competition for the four remaining uhlsport Hellenic League teams, with two teams progressing.

Malvern Town lost 0-1 at Congleton Town, Malvern were caught out within the opening minute when a long ball forward set Congleton’s Arron Johns through and he opened the scoring. Despite numerous attemps by The Hillsiders to get back into the Vase hunt it ended in disappointment with a 1-0 defeat.
Dan Stoneman gave Westfields a one goal lead at Long Eaton after thirty minutes of play. I looked as if that was to be enough to take ‘Field’s through, until the penultimate minute of normal time when Long Eaton levelled the score. A tense penalty shoot out saw ‘Field’s exiting the competition 5-4.

Penalty shoot out’s decided the results of the remaining two fixtures.

In the Lancing v Flackwell Heath fixture, after 90 minutes of play the result was 1-1 with Khalid Simmo netting for Flackwell. The Heathen’s were victorious taking the penalty decider 2-4.

Josh Helmore scored twice for Binfield to forge a 2-2 draw against the home side Fakenham. A 1-4 penalty shoot out result provided the ‘Mole’s’ the victory.

The two victorious Hellenic sides will now be back in Vase action next week end (24 April). Binfield take a trip to Hertordshire to challenge Essex Senior League Premier Division Hadley. Whilst Flackwell Heath take a long trip to Devon to face Toolstation Western League table toppers Plymouth Parkway.

All the best to Binfield and Flackwell next weekend
