The countdown is on to Malvern Town’s Buildbase FA Vase fourth round tie at Congleton Town on Saturday.

The players have worked hard in preparation for the tie against our North West Counties League Premier Division hosts.

A 5-1 friendly victory over Lydney Town, from the step above us, was followed by a goalless draw with Southern League Premier Division outfit, Alvechurch, at the weekend.

“The players have returned looking really fit and determined,” said co-manager, Lee Hooper. “They have done well in both games and the numbers we’ve had who are fit and available to play has been pleasing. It does give Dene and I a selection problem, but it’s a nice headache to have!”

“Everyone has made a contribution in the training sessions and matches we’ve had since coming back and it shows the strength we have here with everyone fighting for places. The lads know the standards we expect here. They have bought into what we are trying to achieve and it all bodes well. Going up to Congleton will be tough. They will be big, physical and a decent team, but we always back ourselves.”

“All the preparation has been towards this game and hopefully we can go there and get a winning result. Obviously it’s a pity that we can’t have any supporters there. We’ve got great fans and it’s gutting for them that they can’t come along too and share the occasion with us. Hopefully they’ll all be supporting us via social media and we can give them something to cheer about.”

The kick-off time of Saturday’s game is under review at the moment due to the funeral of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. We will bring you an update once confirmed.
