Chalfont Wasps are saddened to announce that Ed Gearing, 1st Team Assistant over the last 10 years, passed away peacefully on Friday 8th October in the Churchill Hospital in Headington after a 14 month struggle against blood cancer.
Ed was a typical grass roots club helper in several capacities, an imaginative coach with a brilliant sense of humour and he will be dearly missed by the players and management team.
Ed lived in Milton Keynes throughout his time with us but would do the journey to Chalfont St Giles each week for training and home games and would similarly get to the away games regardless of how that increased his time on the road.
He was also an ever-present when pre & post season work was undertaken at the club.
We will arrange a minute’s applause for him prior to our home game on Saturday.
The club will be strongly represented at his funeral in Milton Keynes on Monday 8th November and we are arranging a permanent memorial to him to be placed in the clubhouse.
All of us at the club will miss him greatly.
