Izuzu FA Vase Action Across the Region, Teams Pay Tribute to Jack Badger

On Saturday, September 21, the Izuzu FA Vase and league competitions saw exciting matchups across the region, with teams battling it out in intense fixtures. But the day was marked by a moment of reflection, as teams, officials, and fans took time to remember Jack Badger, who tragically passed away this week at the young age of 24. Jack’s memory was honored throughout the day, with a special thank you extended to everyone who participated in tributes to commemorate his life.

In the FA Vase, Worcester Raiders got to a 1-1 draw with Abbey Hulton United, with the home side winning 6-5 on penalties. Droitwich Spa triumphed 6-3 over Bewdley Town in a high-scoring affair, while Bitton secured a 3-1 victory against Tuffley Rovers. Roman Glass St George cruised to a 5-0 win over Cheltenham Saracens, and Devizes Town edged out Slimbridge 2-1.

Fairford Town impressed with a dominant 4-1 win over Reading City, while Heather St Johns kept a clean sheet, defeating Sporting Club Inkberrow 2-0. Lydney Town’s 2-2 draw against Oldland Abbotonians was decided on penalties, with Lydney prevailing 4-3.

In a tense contest, Mangotsfield United and Stonehouse Town drew 2-2, but Stonehouse advanced 4-3 on penalties. Elsewhere, Cadbury Heath earned a 3-2 win against Shortwood United, and Chipping Sodbury Town won 2-0 over Tytherington Rocks.

In the Premier Division, Westfields made a statement with an 11-0 thrashing of Brimscombe & Thrupp, while Royal Wootton Bassett Town and Hartpury University finished 1-1. Highworth Town registered a 2-0 win over Cirencester Town.

Division One saw Wantage Town and Ludlow Town share the spoils in a 2-2 draw, while Kidlington Reserves’ match against Carterton FC was postponed.

In Division Two Central, Kidlington Development secured a massive 8-0 victory over Woodstock Town, and Swindon Supermarine Development edged Ardley United Reserves 3-2. Division Two East featured a 5-1 win for Didcot Town Development over Thame United A.

Bishops Cleeve Development dominated Tuffley Rovers Development 6-1 in Division Two West.

In the Batemans Sports Division Two Challenge Cup, Easington Sports Development triumphed 3-2 over Aston Clinton Sports, Headington Amateurs defeated Carterton Development 4-0, and Holmer Green Development ran out 6-2 winners against Taplow United.
