Hello Everyone and Welcome to my first message of the season.
We head into this weekend having completed our 2nd round of games in the Premier Division and Division One. (Notably, there were some postponements due to the FA Cup replays)
It is obviously far too early to call anything out, but we do have two teams in the Premier Division with maximum points and several teams unbeaten.
In Division One, three teams are on maximum points, including two of the new sides joining us this season. Four teams are unbeaten.
Last weekend the FA Cup kicked off and there were several successes to report as well as games involving teams who were both plying their trade in the Hellenic League. Fairford Town’s 7-0 win against Cirencester Town and Lydney Town’s 5-1 win over Thornbury Town were the high scoring games.
Fantastic achievements from both Corsham Town and Longlevens AFC for winning their mid-week replays.
Congratulations to all of the teams who progressed and commiserations to those that did not.
The next round comes along quickly on Saturday 17th August.
We have unfortunately lost two of the League Committee with Mike Markham and Steve Gabb standing down in the past
couple of weeks. Thanks to both Mike and Steve for their efforts and we wish them well.
Brian King has stepped in and taken over the fixtures and has actioned clubs to report back to him for changes they require. This
is on top of his Football Operations Manager & Finance roles, so please do lean in and make his life as easy as possible by
responding to requests for information in a timely manner.
Craig Davenport has taken on the website duties and is working overtime to ensure this is up to date and informative. (As well as his Referee duties, both for his AR and D2 appointments, his own refereeing careeer, not to mention his full-time job!!)
Thanks to both Brian and Craig for stepping in and quickly ensuring normal operations could resume.
The Marsh Challenge Cup first round fixtures have been announced with the ties scheduled to be played on Saturday 7th September.
For your Match Preperation and your actions after the game, please do make use of the guide on the League Website.
This clearly lays out your responsibilities as clubs and what is required of you. If in doubt, please feel free to reach out for advice.
I hope the ball runs sweetly for you all and that the weekend provides another great footballing spectacle.
Regards,
Ian
